It was a fine day and we made a walk to collect the meat that we had ordered. We were walking through a countryside road called popodori in Otawara city. That road was a railroad in the past and I had heard that railroad was abandoned when villagers once opposed a plan to build new railroad along or in parallel to the railroad.
Now this road is open only for pedestrians and cyclists and is about 3~4 kilometers long, stretched between Nishi-nasuno and Otawara. Original railroad was heading to Kurobane.
Walking through this road gives a lot of wonderful experience. You get to see a wide variety of flowers, plants etc. People use this place for exercise, family walk etc. On one side of the road you see traditional Japanese houses and on the other side you can watch modern Japanese houses, apartments etc. Its a calm place for those who wish to enjoy the nature.
And in some locations, you can see play area for children where you can spend time with family and monuments of old railroad.
After that long walk we reached meat shop and collected meat. We also enjoyed Japanese Ramune (sweetened carbonated water). A great day with family.
