otoshi

Most of the Japanese style restaurants welcomes you with otoshi, a simple, short food with which you start your dinner. Most of the times, these would be some processed meat, fish or edamame. At times, you may even see some raw fish or meat. Some restaurants charge for otoshi; some others dont. Start your dinner in a Japanese restaurant with otoshi and some chilled Nama beer, which is the most popular alcoholic beverage in Japan.

kushiyaki

kushiyaki is normally different type of meat, skewered and grilled. Japanese usually use salt, pepper in these items. Usually these items are accompanied by spicy sauces and its a great combination with chilled beer. Kushiyaki is widely available in Japanese restaurants. I ordered tsukune and pork kushiyaki in this video. tsukune is chicken meat ball which also contain soft bones.

karaage

karaage is very popular in Japan and is sold as street food during festivals and events. Normally karaage refers to deep fried chicken which is basically, a little salty. Most of the restaurants in Japan serves karaage.

sashimi

sashimi may be the most popular raw fish Japanese dish in the world. You can find restaurants across globe which serve sashimi. sashimi is considered as an art by Japanese cooks and that art can be enjoyed by all those who take sashimi.

sashimi is raw fish slices served with wasabi, soy sauce, different type of sea weeds etc. Any one who visits Japan should try to taste sashimi at least once because you get the most fresh sashimi in Japan. I had hirame, a kind of flat fish, sashimi in this video and the sashimi was as tender as tender coconut.
